Software Engineer

1. Software Development and System Enhancement • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain software applications to support business and operational requirements. • Analyse user requirements and translate them into technical specifications and software solutions. • Troubleshoot software issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. • Enhance existing applications and systems to improve functionality, reliability, efficiency, and performance. • Develop and maintain software solutions in accordance with established coding standards and best practices. 2. System Integration and Implementation • Develop and maintain integrations between software applications, databases, enterprise systems, and business platforms. • Participate in system upgrades, application deployment, data migration, and implementation activities. • Conduct system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and post-implementation reviews. • Ensure software solutions meet functional requirements, quality standards, and business needs. • Identify and resolve system compatibility and integration issues. 3. Technical Support and Maintenance • Provide technical support for software applications and business systems. • Investigate and resolve application errors, system performance issues, and operational disruptions. • Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, user manuals, and system records. • Implement preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system stability and reliability. • Monitor system performance and recommend appropriate technical improvements. 4. Stakeholder and Vendor Coordination • Gather and analyse business requirements by working closely with users and relevant stakeholders. • Liaise with software vendors, consultants, and service providers on system development, implementation, and technical support. • Provide technical advice and recommendations to support business and operational requirements. • Prepare technical documentation, system specifications, and implementation updates. • Provide training and guidance to users on new systems, features, and operational procedures. 5. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement • Establish and follow software development, testing, deployment, and maintenance procedures. • Ensure software solutions comply with relevant IT policies, security requirements, and data protection standards. • Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve workflows, and enhance operational efficiency. • Keep abreast of emerging software technologies, development practices, and industry best practices. Job Requirements and Qualifications • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. • Relevant experience in software development, application support, system implementation, or IT systems maintenance. • Experience in software development, application enhancement, or system integration would be an advantage. • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript. • Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, database design, and data management. • Familiarity with software development life cycles (SDLC), software testing, debugging, and version control. • Understanding of system integration, APIs, web applications, and enterprise systems. • Familiarity with cloud platforms, cybersecurity principles, and IT infrastructure. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical and business teams. • Detail-oriented, organised, proactive, and adaptable to changing business and technical requirements. • Strong commitment to software quality, system reliability, and continuous improvement.
